5 Summer Paracord Projects

5 Summer Paracord Projects

I'm not sure about where you live, but yesterday for the first time all year, Fargo, North Dakota hit 90 degrees. It was glorious! Some people hate the heat, while others love it. I LOVE it. I wish it was summer all year. It makes me want to be outside and what better activity than to start a new paracord project for the outdoors. I love showing off my paracord where ever and however I can!

So here are 5 summer paracord projects you can wear and use outside:

#1 Hammock

I've written about this one before, but I think a summer blog post warrants the double mention. This does require a good amount of paracord but it can be a fun family project or project you work on for a bit each night. I think you'll be really happy with the result and will give you a fun and comfortable place to nap outside. To learn how to make the hammock, click here.

#2 Sandals

Not much feels better than the first time you wear sandals after a long winter. For me, that was just a couple weeks ago. My feet are still white as snow, but it's okay because they can finally breathe. I can paint my toenails and take my summer wear out of storage.

This is just a quick and easy way to bedazzle your sandals. In the photo above is the cobra weave, but really you could do this with any weave that has a base you weave around. It would look really great to use complimentary colors or pull an accent color from your sandals for the paracord. In the tutorial following, you'll be shown how to make the entire sandal (sans the sole) out of paracord. Click here to learn how.

#3 Ladder

Whether you live in an apartment and need a second escape route, want to be prepared, or as a ladder to a tree house, one thing is certain -- a glow in the dark paracord ladder is awesome. The glow in the dark paracord will ensure that you can always find it in the dark and will just make it look better. This tutorial is detailed and full of good tips.

#4 Laced Pallet Hanging Chair

I would LOVE to have this chair outside my house. What's so fun about this chair is that you can paint the pallet, use colored paracord, and pallets are easily accessible. This is almost 100% customizable. Here is another good and detailed tutorial to make this chair yourself. Also, this could make a great mother's or father's day gift!

#5 Sling Shot

How do you get more summer or childlike than a sling shot? If you have 14 feet of paracord, ruler, scissors, and a lighter than you have all the materials necessary to entertain a child for hours.

There are numerous paracord projects that are great for the outdoors. What have you done?
